ABOUT SPRINGBOARD

• Springboard is an innovative service that provides rehabilitation therapy and education programs in a community setting, for adults with severe and multiple physical and cognitive disabilities following an acquired brain injury (ABI).

• Currently there are fourteen participants involved in the program, eleven of whom are males.

• The Springboard program is a service of the Brain Injury Network of South Australia Inc, and participants attend either one or two days each week.

• The service operates from Monday to Friday from 10am - 3pm for approximately 48 weeks of each year, based on two semesters with a short break mid - year.

• The program offers physiotherapy, speech therapy and cognitive stimulation/skills development activities in individual, small and large group sessions. Participants work with volunteers towards achieving their goals and the program cannot operate successfully without the assistance of volunteers.

VOLUNTEER INVOLVEMENT

The contribution of volunteers is central to the philosophy and operation of the Springboard Program. Volunteers from the general community provide crucial services and support, working with individual participants and groups to implement programs that have been developed by professional therapists.

INFORMATION FOR POTENTIAL VOLUNTEERS

Springboard is seeking the services of enthusiastic and motivated volunteers to assist in an innovative rehabilitation therapy and education program in a community setting. The Springboard program is a service of the Brain Injury Network of South Australia Inc. It operates from Monday to Friday from 10am - 3pm for approximately 48 weeks of each year, based on two semesters with a short break mid-year.

The Program includes physiotherapy, speech therapy and cognitive stimulation/skills development sessions in individual, small and large group sessions. Currently there are fourteen participants, eleven of whom are males.

Committed volunteers are needed to assist participants to achieve their individual goals. A sense of humour, interest in others and the willingness to give several hours of your time and skills on one day each week are essential pre-requisites. There will be many opportunities for you to learn new skills and polish up on old talents.
